Your complete supply partner
Your complete supply partner
Our relationship with the winemakers gives us direct control of quality, labels, presentation and movement of the end product. Even with the recent issues around Brexit and global pressure on supply we have met the requirements of our customers. Quality and competitiveness are the foundations of a solid business and Addison Wines are proud to have been serving their customers for over 150 years.
Think of us more as wine consultancy. We source wines from quality producers, not corporate conglomerates or bulk wine brokers.
• How do I maximise my GP ?
• What is on trend, and what is old hat ?
• Is my offer enhancing or detracting from my business ?
• Does premium wine by the glass work ?
We will be there to help and guide you, whilst never being stuffy and pompous. We can also assist with wine preservation and serving ideas too. Our wines are proven in the licensed arena, and we will equip you and your key staff members to give confident and concise recommendations to your customers through our educational tutorials.
John Cliff Addison set up a grocery Business at 67 High St, Newport with his brother William Joseph Addison in the 1860s. In the census of 1891 the brothers were titled as Wine Merchants.
The mid 1900’s saw tenure in the 3rd generation migrate to the Horton family. Margaret Addison marrying Sydney William Horton, the grandfather of current MDs David & Jon.

Manages the day-to-day requirements of the company and oversees the general operational side of the business. Keen golfer and carries on the family’s nautical interest in sailing. Definitely more Ainslie than Pugwash
Jon concentrates on the intricate processes of purchasing, shipping and portfolio development, the bedrock of Addison Wines. A family man with a love of good food and wine, naturally! Can also be found blowing his whistle as a rugby referee during the season.
We are an independent family run merchant sourcing individual wines from dedicated, passionate wine makers.
Wife of David. Is a long serving sales executive, wife and mother who exudes charm, personality and a great knowledge of the portfolio. Loves good food and company, more a necessity than a bonus.
Mother to David & Jon. Lesley still has a very active role in the business overseeing the purse strings with elegant aplomb. Loves nothing more than a chilled white on the ocean wave.
Jon’s wife. A qualified media professional and passionate supporter of independent
businesses, also partial to an elegant Chardonnay or dry rosé.
A well-seasoned wine sales executive with firm roots in Worcestershire. Paul’s knowledge of the trade and what works best for his customers is exemplary, and his success is down to the service he gives. Still an active rugby player but injuries and after match frivolities are taking longer to repair.
It’s easier to list what Mark hasn’t
done in the drinks industry. Sales, operations, marketing and management, he brings a wealth of experience to Addison Wines. Loves travel, and has been to most of the wine producing areas in Europe and South America. Lives in Shrewsbury with wife Jill and daft cockerpoo Ralph.
A permanent fixture within Addison Wines and has been with us so long we cannot remember when he started. He still turns up with alarming regularity and a cheeky smile so we’re all happy. Lawrence runs our warehousing and transport, which is a mammoth task. A good job he loves walking, because he’s rarely at his desk.
